New job?

As most of you know, I'm a 6th grade teacher. Initially I was interviewed to take over the high school baseball program but the coach decided not to leave and later I decided to accept just a teaching position. After that, I really thought my chances of coaching were gone. At the end of last year, the new offensive coordinator asked if I would consider coaching at the Jr. high level. I told him that I would consider coaching, but nothing really came of it.

Last week during our teacher workshops the O.C. asked again if I would consider coaching and I said yes. Then another coach asked me the same thing. When I got back to my campus the principal called me in and said he would free up my schedule to allow it to happen. He also said he didn't think he would be able to get a stipend for me because the budget had already been set. Uh. No. I won't do it for free. I really want to be a coach, but I really don't want to do it for free.

Things never go how you want them and this is pry not gonna be any different. I called Lidia (the ex) and asked if I could get our oldest son, Kristian, to come to school with me. He's gonna be a 7th grader and is starting to play Jr. high football. His mom said no. End of conversation.

This sucks 'cause now if I coach, I have to play against my own son. Never a good thing. And with football games on Thursday, I will only be able to see him once this year and that's when we play them. Anyway, the new athletic director called me into his office on Friday and said he had heard good things about me. He offered me a spot on the coaching staff and said he couldn't finalize it till the Aug 27th school board meeting but that he's nearly 90% sure it would happen.

I'm kinda torn now. This is a step that I really need to do in order to become a baseball coach someday, but I also don't want to let my son down by not being there for his football games. I would also have to quit as Thomas' peewee football coach - and he's killing out there. I know i'm his dad and have some biases but Thomas is easily the most aggressive player in our league. Kid is straight up tough and doesn't slow down to make plays - very unusual for a kid his age (8).

Here's a photo of a tackle that Thomas made last year. He's #31 in your program and #1 in my heart.

another photo of Thomas making a tackle. He's tough.

9v Battery

New me. New look.

I feel as if my batteries are fully charged. I'm ready to make a go at it again but I pry won't post more than 3-4 times a week. Deal with it.

This summer I played tons of poker, played several rounds of golf, had an incident with the emergency room with Allison and made a good run at Little League All-Stars with my oldest son. If you stick around to read, this is what you'll get.

Now i have to go to freaking bed because work starts tomorrow.

My battery just drained.

Where is everyone?

Gonna see how long it takes for my "fans" to come back. Pry never will.

Last day before I go back to work. I've been playing tons of live poker this summer and this pleases me. I didn't get all the things done that I needed to get done but such is life. I read a few books and spent all day with my kids while their mom was at work. I'm really enjoying them and the time we spend together and I don't regret leaving San Antonio to be closer to them.

Maybe I'll add some new stuff. Lots of things happening to me...some of which would make you laugh.

For now, peace out.
